Don and Lois Hasenfratz visited the Wupatki Ruins near Flagstaff, AZ in September. Don is wearing his Union Pacific Railroad Hat from Pacific, MO and his Missouri Rte 66 T-shirt. Lois is wearing her St. Louis Race for the Cure T shirt. It was awesome wakling around the ruins and thinking that less than 800 years ago the Wupatki Pueblo was the largest pueblo around. It flourished for a time as a meeting place of different cultures. Tip: Never over plan your trip as some of our most memorable vacation spots were those that we found along the way and were completely unplanned.

Who and where. Ann Stark wearing her St. Louis Triumph Owners Association shirt. We were in Portmeirion Wales where the original Prisoner TV series was filmed. The village is a fantasy Italian town built on the 1920's by a wealthy man in norther Wales.
The Trip. We drove from London to Northern Wales and back. We stayed in bed and breakfasts, a castle and a 500 year old manor house. Once out of London driving is not bad and prices are more reasonable.
Travel tip. Ask for directions or help. You'll find the British are among the friendliest and most accomodating people anywhere.

The trip included: Pearl Harbor, Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow Falls, Road to Hana, Atlantis submarine & whale watching, Kona, Waimea Canyon, Spouting Horn, Kilauea Lighthouse, Na Pali Coast and Oahu. Definitely a vacation in paradise!

Travel Tip: Cruise. Rent cars in advance. Go during whale season.

I am in Hong Kong for business and saw an article in today's (Sep. 20, 2009) South China Morning Post about St, Louis. A very flattering story about our great city!

I asked the concierge of my hotel to snap this pic of me holding the article with HK as backdrop.

Every Wednesday in the Post-Dispatch Metro section, look for samples of your photos in the newspaper. We'll look for a variety: Did you see breaking news? Are you at an interesting event? Or maybe you've captured a nice slice of everyday life. To be considered for publication, supply full caption information: when the photo was taken; where the photo was taken; names of people and places shown, with accurate spellings; and a description of what's happening.
